There are no pre-requisites for this course. Participants undertaking this course are likely to be professionals who do not have family violence as a core function of their role. These professionals may encounter victim survivors (including children and young people) and perpetrators through their interactions with children, families and/or adults within their work. It also provides the foundational understanding of family violence and risk needed for further levels of specialisation.

However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. OR You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

On Campus Delivery model - you are required to have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. You will also need to undertake a Pre-Training Review. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.

Workplace Delivery Model - To be eligible for this program you must have a minimum of five years experience in the construction waterproofing industry and have access to a live work site as part of this delivery. You are required to have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. You will also need to undertake a Pre-Training Review. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.

For Workplace Delivery model - All applicants will need to be currently working in the industry and have access to a live job site for assessments.

All applicants for this course will complete an assessment to evaluate their language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.

You will be assessed throughout the course, assessments may include written, oral or practical assessments. These assessments are designed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required in order to achieve this qualification. Your teacher will provide you information on how you will be assessed for each unit.

There is the opportunity for re-assessment and appeal, which you can discuss with your teacher.

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is highly recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience.

You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer) or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

There is a mandatory practical placement component to this qualification of 400 hours. Potential students must obtain a National Police Check (NPC) and Working With Children's Check WWCC with no disclosable outcomes before undertaking the practical placement.

Students will be required to be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spread sheet, and electronic communication platforms and internet search engines

Satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills. You must be at least 15 years old at the time of application. This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway. You may participate in this course while searching for suitable employment but you will need to complete extra practical work at further cost if you do not secure a workplace.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of an apprenticeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

If you are enrolling in this course as a NON apprentice, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

AASN registration or interview for apprentices. Non-apprentices will be offered a position based on their past experience and ability to source additional skills practice.

If you are enrolling in this course as a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Attendance at an information session is compulsory; it is the first step in being accepted for this course. You will also be required to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment, suitability task and an interview.

You are eligible to apply if you are aged 15 years or over and have an employer or have completed an apprenticeship in this field or have been offered an apprenticeship in the specific area of specialisation. You may receive credit for previous studies including Certificates in Engineering

If you wish to apply for this course as an apprentice, your employer will register your intention to enrol through a registered Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider. You are required to have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.

Under 18?

• the minimum age is 15 to attend this course
• Parental or guardian consent must be given for enrolment in a course. A parental /guardian signature is required on the enrolment form.
• If you are a student who is under 17 and has completed year 10, you must provide a Transition from School form your principal to support your application for your chosen course.
• If you are a student who is under 17 and has not completed year 10, you must provide correspondence from a Department Regional Director to support your application for your chosen course.

You will need to complete a literacy and numeracy LLN test and a pre-training review to demonstrate a keen motivation to complete the course.
