Kangan Institute Courses

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. OR You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months).

Applicants for the apprenticeship stream will need to be employed in the barbering industry.

All applicants for this course complete an assessment to evaluate their language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.

You must have satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills and be at least 15 years old at the time of application. This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway. You may participate in this course while searching for suitable employment but you will need to complete extra practical work at further cost if you do not secure a workplace.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of an apprenticeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

AASN registration or interview for apprentices. Non-apprentices will be offered a position based on their past experience and ability to source additional skills practice.

Apprentice/Trainees - You will need to have an employer and then contact an Australian Apprentice Support Network office to sign a training contract.

• 18 years or over at the time of placement

If you are enrolling in this course as a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Applicants are invited to register their application online. You will then be invited to sit a literacy and numeracy assessment.
