Can I Apply?

There are no set prerequisites for this course. It is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

Can I Apply?

Entry to the Certificate II in Work Education is intended for post compulsory school age learners with evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment / intellectual disability.

In exceptional circumstances compulsory school age learners with evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment / intellectual disability may be enrolled in the qualification, provided the Registered Training Organisation can establish:

  • the learner's Secondary School is unable to meet their needs

and

  • the learner has a level of behavioural maturity that would allow them to develop the communication and interpersonal skills expected in the workplace.

This course is available through the apprenticeship and traineeship pathway. You are eligible if you are employed or have been offered a new apprenticeship or traineeship in your chosen field. You must be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Network and have a signed contract.

Also, it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.

You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. Yes you can. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Once you have applied, you will need to contact the Vocational English Language Unit on 1300 675 676 to book an assessment interview which will determine current language and literacy levels and course eligibility.

Ongoing enrolments are available for government funded programs including the Adult Migrant English Program.

Can I Apply?

It is expected that you will have achieved the Certificate II in Animal Studies (ACM20117) or Certificate II in Animal Care (ACM20121) or higher. If you have not completed a qualification you will need a suitable level of vocational training and/or work experience related to veterinary nursing. As part of the application and enrolment process you will be required to meet with one of our teaching staff to undertake an interview to determine your suitability, career outcomes and work history.

It is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course, which will be determine by undertaking a Literacy, language and numeracy online test.

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use a online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Please note:

Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy and numeracy competencies to Level 4 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Students are required to work independently and use support from a range of unfamiliar and/or unpredictable resources; read complex text with specialised vocabulary; embed information in a justice context; and conduct complex analysis, which includes extracting, extrapolating and reflecting on information and some abstract themes.

Students will be required to be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication platforms and internet search engines

As part of the enrolment process we recommend you attend an information session, you will be required to complete Literacy, Language and Numeracy online assessment and pre-training review interview.

Along with direct applications, the Diploma of Justice (22594VIC) is also offered through VTAC; therefore full-time VTAC applicants must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries.

How Will I Be Selected?

As part of the enrolment process a staff member will be in contact with you to provide you with information about the course.

You will be required to complete Literacy, Language and Numeracy online assessment, suitability task, and pre training review interview.

Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oral and numeracy competencies to Level 4 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Year 12 students will be selected using their ATAR scores, if applying through VTAC.
