A signed apprenticeship training agreement between yourself, your employer, an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider (AASN) and a registered training organisation is required.

Satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills. You must be at least 15 years old at the time of application. This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway. You may participate in this course while searching for suitable employment but you will need to complete extra practical work at further cost if you do not secure a workplace.

There is also an interview process with the teacher for Certificate III entry.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of an apprenticeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use a online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.

There are no set prerequisites for this course however you will be required to attend an Information Session and undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills assessment.

The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) provides a national standard of required core skills and levels of performance when seeking to enter training. Kangan Institute has the Certificate IV in Building and Construction listed as a ACSF Level 3 for Language, Literacy and Numeracy. All students will be required to complete a pre training review if they intend to enrol into the course after the information session on the day.

After you've applied online, you'll be contacted to progress through the enrolment stages which includes a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment.

You will be invited to an information/induction session and provided with learning materials and course details.

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course OR you are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.) Non apprentice students will be required to undertake a 1:1 interview to establish their experience and units to study.

You will be interviewed and have to complete a basic literacy and numeracy task at the session. Offers will be made following this and you will then complete your enrolment.
