The accounting services industry has grown over the past five years creating employment opportunities for people with the right skills and qualifications across a wide range of businesses.

Accountants provide services relating to financial reporting, taxation, auditing, insolvency, accounting information systems, budgeting, and cost management, and provide advice on compliance requirements to ensure statutory and strategic governance.

The Diploma of Accounting (FNS50222) is designed to give you the training and knowledge for a range of career pathways in the accounting, business and finance sectors. The course is nationally accredited and will give you some of the educational units required to become a registered Tax Agent.*

Our experienced teachers who are experts in their field will guide you through the program. You'll gain the skills and confident to perform a range of accounting services including:

  • Providing financial and business performance information
  • Preparing tax documentation for individuals
  • Managing budgets and forecasts
  • Preparing financial reports for corporate entities
  • Providing management and accounting information.

Satisfactory completion of this course entitles you to join the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), one of the three peak accounting bodies representing accountants in Australia.

Our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning. This flexibility allows our students to continue to study in a safe, guided and supported manner.

If you want to continue your studies after you graduate, you can go on to complete the Advanced Diploma of Accounting (FNS60222).

Our partnerships with leading Australian universities entitle graduates of this course to earn credits towards a degree.

Can I Apply?

Prior to commencing this qualification an individual must have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent).

  • FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
  • FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
  • FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports (this unit is the equivalent version of BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports).

These competencies may have been achieved through completion of the following (or their equivalent):

  • FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set

or

  • FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

How Will I Be Selected?

You will be required to complete an assessment to evaluate your language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.

Pre-requisites - You will also need to have met the entrance requirement of the course:

  • Completion of FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent, or
  • Completion of Accounting Principles Skill Set (FNSS00014).
