University of Sydney (USYD) Courses

Admission to this course requires:

• bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification.

Graduate Certificate students may apply to upgrade to the Diploma or Masters at the completion of their program (with a weighted average mark of at least 70).

Admission to the course requires:

• a medical degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification.

Admission to the course requires:

• a bachelor or postgraduate degree in a health or science-related discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification.

Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies requires:

• a bachelor's degree with a major in one of Anthropology, Archaeology, Art History, Cultural Geography, Cultural Studies, Education, English, Gender Studies, History, Indigenous Studies or another major with an equivalent skills and knowledge base; and a minimum 60% average calculated over the whole degree, from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification; or
• completion of the Graduate Certificate in Museum and Heritage Studies with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification.

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trials Research will hold:

• a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or
• a minimum 5 years professional work experience in a health-related field.

A successful applicant for admission to this course will hold:

• a Bachelor of Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Medicine or Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney or equivalent institution;
• Or an equivalent qualification that is recognised by the Australian Dental Board (Limited Registration for postgraduate training/supervised practice) and with a curriculum acceptable to the school.

In addition to these criteria, admission to this course requires:

• at least two years general dental practice; completion of the primary Fellowship Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons or its equivalent is desirable
• all applicants must be registered with the Australian Dental Board for practice (limited registration for international candidates) prior to admission to the program.

Applicants must demonstrate commitment to the particular specialty that they are applying for, such as through participation in short courses or continuing education programs aligned to that particular specialty.

All applications will be ranked according to academic merit after the application closing date. Successfully ranked applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with the Sydney Dental School. Some specialist programs also require applicants to sit an examination as a component of the admission process.

Admission requires:

• a bachelor's degree of higher award from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline as determined by the School; or
• a graduate certificate from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline as determined by the School; or
• completion of the requirements of an embedded graduate certificate in an appropriate discipline, as determined by the School, from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification;or
• in exceptional circumstances the Head of School and Dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the Conservatorium, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award; and
• successful completion of an audition.

Applicants who do not have a recognised tertiary award but who demonstrate an equivalent musical ability and maturity at the audition and interview, and who can show considerable performing experience may be admitted.

Admission to candidature for the Master of Medical Imaging Science requires:

• A master's degree in medical radiation sciences; or
• a pass bachelor's degree in medical radiation sciences with a credit average; or
• an honours bachelor's degree in medical radiation sciences from the University of Sydney; or
• completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate diploma or graduate certificate in this discipline; or
• qualifications deemed by the faculty to be equivalent to one of the above.

Admission to candidature for the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) requires:

• a relevant Australian bachelor's degree (Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate) or equivalent qualification; and
• evidence of the ability to meet the required prerequisite knowledge in relation to human development and of society; and
• evidence of relevant employment history in human and community services industry (generally evidence of at least 2 years is required).

In exceptional circumstances, the Dean may admit applicants without a bachelor's degree who, in the opinion of the faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award. This may include evidence through publications or authorship of official documents.

Admission to this course requires:

• completion of the requirements for the Master of Medicine (Sleep Medicine); and
• an average mark of at least 75% in 24 credit points of compulsory and/or stream units of study; and
• any other requirements as stated by the Faculty at the time of application.

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

• an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification, or
• an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent, and five years relevant professional work experience, or
• the relevant University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Engineering or Graduate Certificate in Engineering with a credit average (65 percent).

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Public Health will hold a degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification.
