The Graduate Certificate in Business Studies is designed to ensure you are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in postgraduate business programs.
Entry Requirements

For admission to this course you need either:

1) A completed Australian Advanced Diploma or above, or approved equivalent#; OR

2) at least two years' management experience*.

You must provide evidence to support your eligibility for the degree, in particular a copy of your CV showing your work experience, and letters of reference from line managers or similar to confirm the work experience meets the minimum level for entry.

*minimum management experience in this case is defined as supervisory, team leader or business manager experience. In the case of applicants who have worked as a sole trader or consultant, additional evidence to support the level of experience must be provided.

This course equips students with fundamental knowledge and skills in counselling, together with an understanding of the ethical, legal and professional issues in relation to the practice of counselling required for employment in a range of counselling roles.
Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • a degree with a major in psychology, behavioural or psychological science; or
  • a degree in an affiliated area of human services, such as education, social work, law or nursing; or
  • other equivalent qualifications or combination of qualifications which required at least three years of full-time tertiary study, or is deemed equivalent by the College of Health and Medicine

All applicants must submit:

1. Full official academic transcript/s to evidence that their undergraduate degree in psychology (or equivalent) has been completed. In some instances, transcripts will not be available until after the closing date and will need to be submitted as soon as they become available.

2. A curriculum vitae which includes details of any relevant work experience (including voluntary work).

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to study the Graduate Diploma of Marine and Antarctic Science you must have a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science from the University of Tasmania, or an equivalent qualification from an Australian university. An example of an equivalent qualification is a Bachelor of Science with a major in life sciences (such as biology, environmental science, zoology, plant science, marine biology, ecology etc).

In addition, specifically for the Governance and Policy specialisation, students may be admitted with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an Australian university in a governance and policy field with evidence of completion of units at undergraduate level that are related to life sciences.

Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects, and meet English language requirements to be eligible for an offer.

English Language Requirements

For students who do not meet the English Language Requirement through citizenship or prior studies in English in an approved country, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided. See the English Language Requirements page for more information.

Graduate Certificate

Delivered online, and in a part-time study mode, the University of Tasmania is now offering midwives the opportunity to further their knowledge and skills with the Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Specialisation).
Entry Requirements

Applicants must have graduated from a Bachelor of Midwifery program and practiced as a Registered Midwife for at least six (6) months since graduation, prior to the start of the course.

Applicants must provide evidence of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) registration as a Division 1 Registered Midwife with no restrictions or conditions.

Safety in Practice Requirements for Child and Family Health
This course includes compulsory work placements. All students must meet the College of Health and Medicine's Safety in Practice Requirements by census date of the first semester of the course. The safety in practice requirements are to be completed separately to the course admission application.
