For admission to this course you need either:

1) A completed Australian Advanced Diploma or above, or approved equivalent#; OR

2) at least two years' management experience*.

You must provide evidence to support your eligibility for the degree, in particular a copy of your CV showing your work experience, and letters of reference from line managers or similar to confirm the work experience meets the minimum level for entry.

#approved equivalent from any overseas institution as assessed by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR).

*minimum management experience in this case is defined as supervisory, team leader or business manager experience. In the case of applicants who have worked as a sole trader or consultant, additional evidence to support the level of experience must be provided.

Applicants must have:

• a degree with a major in psychology, behavioural or psychological science; or
• a degree in an affiliated area of human services, such as education, social work, law or nursing; or
• other equivalent qualifications or combination of qualifications which required at least three years of full-time tertiary study, or is deemed equivalent by the College of Health and Medicine

All applicants must submit:

1. Full official academic transcript/s to evidence that their undergraduate degree in psychology (or equivalent) has been completed. In some instances, transcripts will not be available until after the closing date and will need to be submitted as soon as they become available.

2. A curriculum vitae which includes details of any relevant work experience (including voluntary work).

Applicants must have:

• a degree with a major in psychology, behavioural or psychological science,
• or a degree in an affiliated area of human services, such as education, social work, law or nursing
• or other equivalent qualifications or combination of qualifications which required at least three years of full-time tertiary study or is deemed equivalent by the College of Health and Medicine

Evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided (IELTS 6.5, no band less than 6.5)

All applicants must submit:

To be eligible to receive an offer applicants will have

• Completed nationally accredited health professional degree, at AQF7 including medicine, nursing and paramedicine, from an Australian higher education provider or equivalent overseas qualification,
• AND at least 2 years of health professional experience
• AND some professional or life experience in a remote / extreme environment as specified by the College of Health and Medicine

OR

• Completed nationally accredited health professional degree at AQF7 (other than medicine, nursing or paramedicine), including exercise science, dentistry or physiotherapy
• AND at least 2 years remote clinical experience as specified by the College of Health and Medicine

OR

• Completed the Graduate Diploma of Healthcare in Extreme Environments

To be admitted to study the Graduate Diploma of Marine and Antarctic Science you must have a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science from the University of Tasmania, or an equivalent qualification from an Australian university. An example of an equivalent qualification is a Bachelor of Science with a major in life sciences (such as biology, environmental science, zoology, plant science, marine biology, ecology etc).

In addition, specifically for the Governance and Policy specialisation, students may be admitted with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an Australian university in a governance and policy field with evidence of completion of units at undergraduate level that are related to life sciences.

Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects, and meet English language requirements to be eligible for an offer.

English Language Requirements

For students who do not meet the English Language Requirement through citizenship or prior studies in English in an approved country, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided. See the English Language Requirements page for more information.

English Language Requirements are: IELTS (Academic) 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0)

Course Specific Requirements

To be admitted to study the Graduate Diploma of Marine and Antarctic Science you must have a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science from the University of Tasmania, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary education institution. An example of an equivalent qualification is a Bachelor of Science with a major in life sciences (such as biology, environmental science, zoology, plant science, marine biology, ecology etc).

In addition, specifically for the Governance and Policy specialsation, students may be admitted with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a governance and policy field from a recognised tertiary education institution with evidence of completion of units at undergraduate level that are related to life sciences.

Domestic applicants who recently completed secondary education (in the past two years)

This course does not use ATAR as part of the admission process. To be an eligible for an offer, applicants must have completed the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) or an equivalent qualification.

Domestic applicants with higher education study

To be eligible for an offer, you must have:

• Partially completed an undergraduate course at Diploma level or higher (or equivalent). You must have completed at least one unit of study (equivalent to 12.5 UTAS credit points), at 100 level or higher and which may include 100 level units completed in the UTAS Diploma of University Studies. If you have failed any units, your application may be subject to further review before an offer is made; OR
• Completed the UTAS University Preparation Program (or an equivalent qualification offered by an Australian University).

Domestic applicants with VET / TAFE study

To be eligible for an offer, you must have completed a Certificate III or higher (or equivalent) in any discipline.

Applications on the basis of work or life experience

Applicants without senior secondary, tertiary or VET / TAFE study can complete a personal competency statement.

Applicants may be eligible for an offer if they have relevant work and / or life experiences which demonstrate a capacity to succeed in this course.

- Completed at least one undergraduate unit (equivalent to 12.5 UTAS credit points).

- A completed VET Certificate III or higher,

If you have not successfully completed senior secondary, tertiary or TAFE/VET study, but have relevant work and life experience you can complete a personal competency statement. You may be eligible for an offer if you have work and life experiences that demonstrate a capacity to succeed in this course.

Applicants must have graduated from a Bachelor of Midwifery program and practiced as a Registered Midwife for at least six (6) months since graduation, prior to the start of the course.

Applicants must provide evidence of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) registration as a Division 1 Registered Midwife with no restrictions or conditions.

Safety in Practice Requirements for Child and Family Health
This course includes compulsory work placements. All students must meet the College of Health and Medicine's Safety in Practice Requirements by census date of the first semester of the course. The safety in practice requirements are to be completed separately to the course admission application.

Applicants with higher education study

To be eligible for an offer, you must have completed:

• An Initial Teacher's Education (ITE) degree at Bachelor's level or equivalent qualification such as a Master of Teaching, or;
• the Graduate Certificate of Education, Diploma of Education, or equivalent qualification.

Applicants without an Initial Teacher's Education degree:

To be eligible for an offer, you must have:

• Completed a Certificate IV or equivalent qualification and 3 years industry or teaching experience.

Students intending to articulate to the Master of Education with a specialisation in Applied Learning are strongly recommended to have completed a Cert IV and have 3 years industry or teaching experience.

H4B Bachelor of Nursing with Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice) Admissions Requirements

Applicants who have recently completed secondary education (in the past two years): This course does not use ATAR and equivalent ranks as part of the admission process.

Applicants with previous higher education study: N/A. Applicants with previous

VET / TAFE study: N/A

Applications on the basis of work or life experience: Applicants must be an AHPRA Registered Nurse with no conditions or restrictions to practice, who is completing or has just completed (within the last three months) a Transition to Practice program.

Prerequisites: Nil.

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

An AQF level 7 (or equivalent) career entry level undergraduate degree in Paramedicine from an approved tertiary institution.

OR

An AQF level 5 or 6 qualification that meets registration requirements as a paramedic in Australia AND an AQF level 7 undergraduate degree from an approved tertiary institution in a cognate health profession.

In addition, applicants must:

• Provide a statement from your employer confirming current employment as a paramedic; and
• Have current AHPRA registration in paramedicine without conditions or notations.
