Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the graduate certificate must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, and have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience. All health professionals must hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or accredited within their discipline.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants for the graduate diploma must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience, and be registered nurses. All health professionals must hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or accredited within their discipline.

Masters

Applicants for the masters must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience, and be registered nurses.

Additional entry requirements Applicants must also complete the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ). Final ranking for a place is determined by combining scores from the applicant’s Year 12 subject results that are used to calculate the ATAR (or equivalent) and their UCAT results. Only UCAT ANZ scores from tests held in July 2019 will be considered for 2020 entry. It is expected that applicants will need to achieve an ATAR of 95 or above (after the addition of any relevant adjustment factors) to be competitive for a place. Ranking for offers of places will be based on a rank combining Year 12 subject results (90%) and a UCAT ANZ-derived score (10%), which will be based on results from four sections of the UCAT ANZ test (Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning), with each section equally contributing to the UCAT ANZ-derived score. Admission pathways This course is only available to school leavers - i.e. applicants who are competing for entry on the basis of performance in either SACE Stage 2 studies, the International Baccalaureate or the interstate/overseas equivalent and do not have an academic record of study at higher education level (including Bachelor degrees from TAFE or RTOs). Rural and remote sub-quotas An annual subquota is available for applicants from rural and remote areas. To be considered for the rural and remote subquota applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way. Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC which confirms that they have lived in non-metropolitan areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA2 to RA5) for at least 5 consecutive years, or 10 years cumulatively, from birth (i.e. during any period of their life). Such applicants are required to apply in the normal way. It is expected that applicants will need to achieve an ATAR of 90 or above (after the addition of eligible bonus points) to be considered a place in this sub-quota. Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC confirming the applicant is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent. Graduate Diploma

Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in tourism and events or a closely related discipline (ie hospitality) and must have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of credit (5.00) or above.

Masters

Applicants must normally:

1. hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in Tourism, Hospitality or a closely related discipline and have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher in the upper level topics in this degree, or
2. hold a Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Events or equivalent qualification and have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher in this qualification, or
3. hold an approved Honours degree or equivalent qualifcation in Tourism or closely related discipline.

Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent from an approved tertiary institution. In addition, an application form and portfolio are required, including examples of creative work, for one or more of the positions in the creative team.

Applicants must hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in psychology or with a major in psychology, completed within the last 10 years, which is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC); and must normally have achieved a Grade Point Average of 5.00 or above in all second and third year psychology topics attempted including a third year research methodology topic. Selection will be based on academic merit.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in tourism and events or a closely related discipline (ie hospitality) and must have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of credit (5.00) or above.

Masters

Applicants must normally:

1. hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in Tourism, Hospitality or a closely related discipline and have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher in the upper level topics in this degree, or

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants to the Graduate Diploma in Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Masters

Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved bachelor degree in any discipline. Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production (1.5 years) must normally hold an approved bachelor degree in screen and media, an honours degree in any discipline, or a Graduate Certificate in Screen and Media or a related discipline. Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production (1 year) must normally hold the Graduate Diploma in Screen and Media Production or an honours degree in screen and media production.

Applicants for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Primary R-7 Specialisation) must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification with a major in one the following: English, Drama, Mathematics, Information Technology, Modern languages (restricted to Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, German and Modern Greek), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences), Visual Arts, Health Education, Physical Education, History, Geography.

Applicants for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Secondary Specialisation) must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification with a major (preferably two) that enable them to teach to Year 12 in at least one of: English, Drama, Mathematics, Modern Languages (restricted to Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, German and Modern Greek), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences), Visual Arts, Health Education, Physical Education, History, Geography, Business Studies, Legal Studies and Psychology.

Not all teaching specialisations are offered every year. If your teaching area is Physical Education, you must apply for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Secondary) - Physical Education (SATAC code 2CM228) to be considered.

Note that in South Australia, to teach to Year 10, four undergraduate semester topics in the specialisation are needed; and to teach to Year 12, six undergraduate semester topics in the specialisation are needed. Not all of the above curriculum areas are taught throughout Years 8 to 12.

The Master of Teaching is a pre-service teaching degree and admission normally will not be granted to applicants who already hold a teaching qualification. Additional entry requirements

Applicants must complete a non-academic assessment task known as a Teaching Capabilities Statement as part of their application to demonstrate their motivation to teach, their strong interpersonal and communication skills, willingness to learn, resilience, self-efficacy, and strong organisational and planning skills. This involves a short statement in response to three set questions used to demonstrate suitability for study and work in the teaching profession. Inherent requirements

The Australian Government has recently introduced the Literacy and Numeracy Test for all initial teacher education (ITE) students to ensure they have the high level of personal literacy and numeracy skills required of teachers. The test is a single, national instrument designed to assess elements of an individual’s literacy and numeracy skills and will be used to demonstrate that ITE graduates are in the top 30 per cent of the population for literacy and numeracy. All students commencing an ITE program after 1 January 2017 will be required to meet the benchmark prior to graduation. There are also important inherent requirements for this course and applicants are strongly advised to become aware of these requirements.

Applicants must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification, and typically have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or above to be considered.

Applicants who did not achieve the minimum GPA in their completed approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification, can also be considered on the basis of a second bachelor degree, graduate diploma or Masters degree of their choice, provided they have completed a minimum one semester of full-time equivalent study in one of these courses and they achieve a Flinders equivalent GPA is 5.00 or above in this study.

Applicants are advised a structured interview applies as part of the selection process. Applicants who meet the above requirements will be ranked on the basis of their GPA and may be shortlisted for an interview to fill the places available. The interview is approximately 20 minutes in length and normally held between mid-November to December. Applicants shortlisted for an interview will be contacted via email the week after the application closing date. Applicants can undertake the interview via Skype if interstate. South Australian applicants are expected to attend the interview in person.

Selection will be based on the rank applicants achieve from the combined scores of their structured interview and their best GPA achieved over a minimum of one semester of full-time equivalent study in one course.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Education (Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice) must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Masters

Masters (2 years): Applicants must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification.

Masters (1.5 years): Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in education, teaching or a closely related discipline.

Graduate certificate

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit you entry to the postgraduate program.

Masters

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit you entry to the postgraduate program.

Applicants may apply for an advanced entry (1.5 years) if you have completed an approved degree or equivalent qualification in education, teaching or a a closely related discipline.

Applicants must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification that includes:

• the equivalent of at least 13.5 Flinders units across the course of their undergraduate program in human nutrition, and food science topics in the areas of basic nutrition principles, life-cycle nutrition and food science
• the equivalent of nine Flinders units in chemistry studied at first-year level
• the equivalent of nine Flinders units in human biology studied at first-year level
• the equivalent of at least nine Flinders units in human biochemistry topics studied at second-year level or above
• the equivalent of at least nine Flinders units in human physiology topics studied at second year level or above
• a minimum of a credit average.

Applicants will be ranked for admission on academic merit.
