Entry requirements

 

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

  • an Australian bachelor's degree with honours or a graduate diploma or a graduate certificate or an equivalent qualification or
  • an Australian bachelor's degree in a relevant field (eg. medicine and health fields such as dentistry, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physiotherapy or science, mathematics, veterinary science, or humanities and social sciences fields such as international relations, international development, economics, political science, communication and journalism, or education, or civil engineering, or law) or equivalent qualification or
  • an Australian bachelor's degree in an unrelated field and two years professional work experience in health or international development.

Careers in global health include:

  • monitoring and evaluation officer in a non-government organisation (NGO)
  • public health officer in a health service
  • public health advisor to an international aid agency or government department, or a researcher at a university or research centre.

Graduates of this course are able to obtain employment with non-government organisations internationally and in Australia, government ministries, multilateral and bilateral agencies (such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the United Nations or the World Health Organization), Australian health services and academic institutions.
