Bachelor of Early Childhood overview
  • Are you looking for a degree that gives you flexibility, industry engagement, professional development, expert knowledge and practice? Our Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is for you.
  • UniSQ's Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) is designed to prepare graduates who are confident to teach children in prior to school settings and P-3 classrooms.
  • With regular opportunities to engage with current educators and industry, in both early childhood settings and school contexts, you'll be able to cross the gap between theory and practice. UniSQ graduates are highly sought after and employable in both prior to school settings and early childhood classrooms.
  • Do you already have an early childhood qualification from TAFE or another recognised provider? UniSQ may be able to offer you recognition for prior learning to help you complete your degree faster.
Thinking of studying in 2024? UniSQ will be delivering flexible new ways of teaching, with different calendar offerings, making the balance of study and life easier. Read more in our new academic calendar FAQs.
Professional accreditation

As a graduate, you are prepared to support the learning of children from birth to eight years of age, which means you are eligible to apply for teacher registration through the Queensland College of Teachers. To be eligible for registration in Queensland, both domestic and international students must have at least 51% of supervised practical experience in Australian schools and early childhood settings.

In addition to completing all requirements for the degree, students need to pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) prior to graduation. It's recommended that students pass the LANTITE before the successful completion of 16 courses. Please register for the LANTITE test through the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) website.

This program is approved with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
