Physiotherapy is a health profession concerned with the prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of people with a wide range of health conditions and movement disorders. Physiotherapists work across many settings and encounter complex clinical problems involving musculoskeletal, neurological or cardiorespiratory systems. Physiotherapists are people with effective interpersonal skills, including communicative and empathic abilities, highly developed problem-solving skills, excellent manual handling skills and a motivation to continually improve and learn.
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) program at the University of Newcastle integrates the clinical and basic sciences, focusing on evidence-based physiotherapy practice. The program involves case-based learning with a strong inter-disciplinary focus.
