Your studies and training in your communication degree will enable you to successfully navigate and leverage the changing information landscape. Develop critical and analytical awareness of the cultural, economic and social significance of communication in a complex and rapidly changing global media environment.

The Bachelor of Communication degree provides a solid foundation and in-depth understanding of both communication theory and practice and allows you to specialise in one or two of four majors.

Depending on your chosen major/s, you could study courses in various sectors of media production and theory including:

  • cultural studies
  • magazine and broadcast journalism
  • media interviewing
  • media production
  • photomedia
  • professional writing
  • public relations practice
  • screenwriting

You can also take elective courses from a range of disciplines including history, English, religion or sociology.

Students have the option of completing a single or a double major in this program. Students completing a double major can choose either a double major from the Communication Major options (Double Major Pathway B); or one Communication Major and one School of Creative Industries (SOCI) Major (Double Major Pathway C) from the options listed in the handbook.
