The Graduate Certificate Country as Teacher is a professional-learning qualification that operates to substantially enhance and broaden the knowledge, skills and capabilities of existing teachers. The work undertaken through the course will develop practicing educators' dispositions and capabilities to enact a cohesive Aboriginal curriculum and pedagogy in teaching and learning settings at a foundational level, in preference to the commonplace practice of inserting small and disparate amounts of information from larger bodies of Aboriginal knowledges into a Eurocentric curricular framework to suit the purposes of that framework. This work of the course is strongly collaborative, and it promotes an ongoing collective approach to learning from country as a teacher.
There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy.
