Learn the Tools of the Trade
The Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade prepares students for a career as a tradesperson, with prospective occupations including maintenance fitter, toolmaker and fitter/machinist.
This is an Australian Apprenticeship course, combining paid work with training. Mature age people can also apply for apprenticeships.
This apprenticeship course provides the off-the-job training component of a mechanical engineering apprenticeship. You will learn the knowledge, skills and applications required to begin a career as a fitter and machinist. Competency Based Progression (CBP) Competency based training programs are comprised of competency standards set by industry that each student is assessed against to ensure all the outcomes required have been achieved. Progression through a competency-based training program is determined by the student demonstrating that they have met the competency standards through the training program and related work, not by time spent in training. Apprentices can now complete their apprenticeship once the three competencies from the qualification have been successfully completed and confirmed by the employer. Competency based progression means that as an apprentice completes a progression point, they may be entitled to a wage increase. Progression points are triggered at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of completion of the apprenticeship
