Nutrition is increasingly relevant in today's society due to its impact on the health of individuals, communities and populations. It is a science with real-life applications, providing a range of transferable skills and leading to a variety of careers.
This qualification meets the standards of The Nutrition Society of New Zealand, enabling you to become a Registered Nutritionist. It will provide you with expertise in nutrition, and an awareness of what influences the nutrition of individuals and groups in New Zealand and globally. You'll learn how to identify good sources of nutrition information in an ever-changing environment, enabling you to empower people to make healthier food choices and make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
Part-time up to 6 years.
Nutritionists can work as consultants for individuals, sports teams, or workplaces; in community-based health promotion programmes; in government to provide policy advice; in public health, food industry, and research; or as food writers for media and marketing. As a graduate of this programme, you'll have a solid scientific base with critical thinking and communication skills that can be transferred to other scientific areas
